Day by day
Arrive and Meenakshi Temple
Fly into Madurai, check in by early afternoon. Evening at Meenakshi Amman Temple — dress code is strictly enforced (no shorts, no sleeveless; dhoti/mundu available on hire at the entrance for men in trousers). Stay for the 9:30 pm palanquin ritual if the group's energy holds.
Pamban Bridge and Ramanathaswamy
Morning drive to Rameswaram (170 km, 3½ hours) over the Pamban Bridge. Afternoon at Ramanathaswamy Temple: the 22 theerthams ritual bath and the long pillared corridor. A short visit to Dhanushkodi's edge before sunset if time allows.
To the southern tip
Drive to Kanyakumari (240 km, 5–6 hours via Tirunelveli) with a lunch break en route. Evening at the beach for sunset — the meeting point of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean.
Sunrise, Vivekananda Rock, drive back
Sunrise at 6 am on the beach, then the ferry to Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue. Late morning drive back to Madurai (240 km, 5 hours) — a long final day, so this suits families comfortable with one longer drive; plan a lunch stop at Tirunelveli for its famous halwa.
Fly home
Madurai airport is 12 km from the city centre. Flights to Ahmedabad are usually one-stop via Chennai or Bengaluru; leave 3 hours before departure.
