Haridwar, Rishikesh & Mussoorie Short Break
A long-weekend version for a first taste of Uttarakhand: aarti, ghats and one solid hill-station stop, with no drive over 3 hours.
Day by day
Arrive and Ganga Aarti
Fly Ahmedabad–Dehradun and drive to Haridwar (35 km, 1 hour), or take an overnight train arriving by morning. Check in, rest, and head to Har-ki-Pauri for the evening Ganga Aarti — the highlight of the day for most first-time visitors.
Ghats and jhulas
Morning cable car to Mansa Devi temple, then drive to Rishikesh (25 km, 45 minutes). Afternoon at Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula and the Beatles Ashram; evening aarti at Triveni Ghat or Parmarth Niketan.
Up to the hills
Drive to Mussoorie via Dehradun, about 90 km, 3–3½ hours. Afternoon on Mall Road and at Gun Hill by cable car. Evening free for shopping and a walk along the ridge.
Kempty Falls and viewpoints
Morning at Kempty Falls (go by 9 am to beat the crowd), then Lal Tibba for the telescope view of the snow line. Optional short drive to Dhanaulti for those who want quieter forest scenery. Last evening on Mall Road.
Fly home
Drive down to Dehradun (35 km, 1–1.5 hours) for your flight to Ahmedabad. Jolly Grant Airport is about 55 km from Mussoorie, so allow 2 hours from town.
