Ujjain, Omkareshwar & Kashi
The central and northern four — Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar with its Bhasma Aarti, Kashi Vishwanath, and Baidyanath at Deoghar — done by flight and train rather than road, since these four are not close to each other.
Day by day
Sixth Jyotirlinga: Omkareshwar
Morning flight Ahmedabad–Indore (about 1 hour 15 minutes), then drive to Omkareshwar (140 km, 3 hours). Omkareshwar Temple sits on Mandhata Island in the Narmada, shaped like the Om symbol; cross the footbridge for evening darshan.
Narmada parikrama and onward
Early second darshan and a short Narmada boat ride, then drive to Ujjain (140 km, 3 hours). Evening at Ram Ghat and Kal Bhairav Temple — offer liquor as prasad here, a local custom that surprises most first-time visitors.
Seventh Jyotirlinga: Mahakaleshwar Bhasma Aarti
Reach Mahakaleshwar Temple by 3 am for the 4 am Bhasma Aarti — the slot must be booked online at least 3–4 weeks ahead at mahakaleshwar.nic.in (limited daily quota), and the aarti has its own dress rule: no leather belts, wallets or shoes inside, men are often asked for a dhoti. Rest through the late morning, then visit the Mahakal Lok corridor and Harsiddhi Temple in the evening.
Eighth Jyotirlinga: Kashi Vishwanath
Drive to Indore (55 km, 1.5 hours) for an afternoon flight to Varanasi (via Delhi or Mumbai, 3–4 hours total, or a direct flight when the seasonal route runs). Evening Ganga aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat — go by 5:30 pm for a spot on the steps, or book a boat for a better view.
Kashi Vishwanath and Sarnath
Sunrise Ganga boat ride past the ghats, then Sugam Darshan (paid fast-track ticket) at the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor — no phones, bags or leather goods are allowed past security, and everything must be deposited outside. Afternoon half-day trip to Sarnath (13 km).
Ninth Jyotirlinga: Baidyanath
Fly Varanasi–Kolkata–Deoghar or Varanasi–Patna with a road transfer (about 4 hours from Patna) — check current flight connections, as Deoghar's airport has limited direct routes. Evening arrival; walk through the Kanwar bazaar surrounding the temple complex.
Baidyanath darshan and fly home
Early darshan at Baba Baidyanath — the queue opens around 4 am, and a paid Shighra Darshan counter cuts the wait considerably. Fly Deoghar or Patna to Ahmedabad (via Delhi or Kolkata, 4–5 hours total, arriving evening).

Indicative cost
Per person, twin sharing
Per person, twin sharing
Per person on twin sharing, indicative for 2026, including all flights listed at normal advance-purchase fares. Shravan month (roughly July–August) sees very heavy crowds at both Ujjain and Deoghar and pushes both hotel prices and darshan queue times up sharply — we generally advise against this trip in that period.
