Day by day
Arrive in the kingdom
Fly to Paro via Delhi or Kolkata. Your guide meets you and you drive about 65 km (2 hours) to Thimphu, stopping at Chuzom, where two rivers meet under three stupas. Evening free.
Capital sightseeing
Buddha Dordenma, the National Memorial Chorten, the Folk Heritage Museum, Changangkha Lhakhang and the Takin reserve. Tashichho Dzong in the evening.
Over the pass
Stop at Dochula's 108 chortens (3,100 m), then descend about 77 km to Punakha. Walk to Chimi Lhakhang through the fields and visit Punakha Dzong at the river confluence.
To the Paro valley
About 140 km and 4 hours back via Thimphu, stopping at Tamchog Lhakhang's iron bridge. Afternoon at the National Museum (Ta Dzong), Rinpung Dzong and the Nyamai Zam bridge.
Tiger's Nest
Hike to Taktsang Monastery, 5–6 hours up and back. Ponies go to the halfway café, and the viewpoint there is enough for elders. On the way back, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples.
Fly home
Transfer to Paro airport for your flight to Delhi or Kolkata and onward to Ahmedabad.
