Georgia has become one of the most popular new destinations for Indian families and honeymooners. You get snow-capped Caucasus mountains, medieval churches and cobbled old towns without a Schengen visa. The trip is simple for Indians: an online e-visa, or no visa at all if you hold a valid US, UK or Schengen visa, and around 5–7 hours of flying via a Gulf hub.
Most first trips base in Tbilisi and take day trips from there: the old capital Mtskheta, the Kazbegi mountain road with a 4x4 ride to Gergeti Trinity Church, and Kakheti's hilltop town Sighnaghi. Longer trips add a night in the ski village of Gudauri or two nights on the Black Sea at Batumi. Tbilisi and Batumi have plenty of Indian restaurants. Jain food needs planning, and in the countryside vegetarian options are simple.

Old Tbilisi & Narikala Fortress
Cable car up to Narikala fortress and the Mother of Georgia statue, the sulphur-bath domes of Abanotubani, and the walk down to the Leghvtakhevi waterfall hidden in the old town.
Mtskheta
Georgia's ancient capital and spiritual heart — Jvari Monastery on the hill above the river confluence and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in the town (UNESCO World Heritage).
Kazbegi & Gergeti Trinity Church
The famous hilltop church beneath 5,047 m Mount Kazbek, reached by 4x4 from Stepantsminda, on the Georgian Military Road via Ananuri fortress and the Gudauri viewpoint.

Getting there from Ahmedabad
Fly: there's no non-stop flight from Ahmedabad. The usual routings are via Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi on Gulf carriers and low-cost airlines, or via Delhi when a direct Delhi–Tbilisi service is operating. Expect 7–10 hours including the connection. Some flights land in Kutaisi instead of Tbilisi, about 3½ hours away by road.
E-visa: apply online on Georgia's official e-visa portal at least 2–3 weeks before travel. The fee is roughly USD 35 including identity verification, and processing usually takes 5–7 working days. Indians holding a valid US, UK, Schengen or certain other visas or residence permits can enter visa-free. We check eligibility for each traveller.
Insurance: Georgia now requires visitors to hold travel health insurance for the length of the stay. Buy it before you fly and carry a copy.
Getting around. Private car (up to 3 people) or minivan (4–6) with an English-speaking driver is the way most Indian families travel. Distances are short around Tbilisi, but the Tbilisi–Batumi drive is long. The last climb to Gergeti church is by local 4x4.

Permits, rules and packing
Indian passport holders need a Georgia e-visa before travel, unless they hold a valid visa or residence permit from one of the countries Georgia recognises (including the USA, UK and Schengen states). In that case the stay is visa-free. Passports should have at least 3 months' validity beyond the planned stay and two blank pages. Georgia has introduced compulsory travel insurance for visitors, which may be checked on arrival. Rules change, so we recheck e-visa and insurance requirements when you book.

- Universal travel adapter (Georgia uses European two-pin sockets)
- Some USD or EUR cash to exchange for Georgian lari (GEL); cards work widely in the cities
Veg and Jain food in Georgia
- Tbilisi has many Indian restaurants, several of them pure veg, and Batumi has a good number too. We plan lunches and dinners around them on city days.
- Vegetarian Georgian food to try: khachapuri (cheese bread), lobio (bean stew), badrijani (walnut-stuffed aubergine) and pkhali. Ask whether meat stock is used.
- Jain food is not common. Hotels and Indian restaurants in Tbilisi can manage with advance notice, and on mountain day trips carry theplas and dry snacks.
- Tap water is drinkable in most of Georgia, and the mineral waters (Borjomi, Nabeglavi) are famous.

- Flights: Ahmedabad–Tbilisi return via a Gulf hub often costs ₹35,000–60,000 per person, more in May–June and at Diwali.
- The land package is priced in US dollars, so the rupee price moves with the exchange rate. We fix the rupee amount when you pay.
- Meals: breakfast is included, and lunches and dinners at Indian restaurants add roughly ₹1,500–2,500 per person per day.

Travelling with parents and children
- Keep Tbilisi as a base for a first trip with elders. It means fewer hotel changes, and every day trip returns to the same room.
- Old Tbilisi is hilly, with steep, uneven cobbles. The cable car and funicular help, but plan short walks for parents.
- The Tbilisi–Batumi drive is 6–7 hours each way. With young children or seniors, consider a one-way domestic flight or skip Batumi.
- Children love the Mtatsminda Park rides, the Batumi cable car and the snow at Gudauri in winter.
- Carry a copy of passports and the insurance certificate for every family member in your hand luggage.

Do Indians need a visa for Georgia?
