Up to the Queen of the Hills

Fly to Bagdogra. Our representative meets you and drives about 90 km (3–4 hours) to Darjeeling. Evening free on the Mall (Chowrasta).

Day 2
Darjeeling

Tiger Hill sunrise and the town

Leave at about 3:30 am for the Tiger Hill sunrise over Kanchenjunga, then Ghoom monastery and Batasia Loop. After breakfast: the Japanese temple and Peace Pagoda, the zoo and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed Thursdays), Tenzing Rock, the Tibetan Refugee centre (closed Sundays) and Happy Valley tea estate.

Day 3
Darjeeling → Gangtok

Along the Teesta to Sikkim

Drive about 115 km (4–5 hours) via Teesta, Melli and Rangpo into Sikkim. Evening on Gangtok's MG Marg.

Day 4
Gangtok → Tsomgo → Nathula

Tsomgo lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula

A full day to Tsomgo lake (about 12,300 ft), Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir and the Nathula pass (about 14,100 ft) on the China border. The Nathula permit is extra and depends on the day and weather.

Gangtok

Gangtok city, or Rumtek monasteries

Banjhakri falls park, the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Do Drul Chorten and the ropeway, then Enchey monastery, the flower show, Hanuman Tok, Ganesh Tok and Tashi viewpoint. Or choose the monastic day: Rumtek, Lingdum and Enchey.

Gangtok → Bagdogra

Back to the plains

After breakfast, drive about 125 km (4–5 hours) to Bagdogra or NJP for your journey home.
