A Friday-to-Sunday escape to the White Rann: two sunsets, a sunrise, Kalo Dungar and the craft villages, with no flights and very little walking. Best timed around a full moon.

By car from Ahmedabad: Bhuj is about 330 km (5½–6 h), Dhordo/White Rann about 400 km (7 h). Bhuj also has flights from Mumbai and trains from Ahmedabad

Drive to the Rann

Early start from Ahmedabad (about 400 km, 7 hours, with a breakfast halt near Samakhiali). Check in, lunch, and go out to the White Rann for sunset. Cultural programme in the evening.

Day 2
Dhordo

Kalo Dungar and Banni villages

Sunrise on the salt, then Kalo Dungar. Afternoon in Hodka and Bhirandiyara (try the mawa sweets). Back to the Rann for moonrise.

Day 3
Dhordo → Bhujodi → Ahmedabad

Home via Bhujodi

Breakfast, a stop at the Bhujodi weaving village and the Vande Mataram Memorial, and drive back to Ahmedabad by evening.
