Day by day
Into the Khasi hills
Fly Ahmedabad–Guwahati (IndiGo non-stop, about 3 hours). Our driver meets you at the airport and drives about 110 km (3–4 hours) to Shillong, stopping at Umiam Lake. Evening at Police Bazaar if time allows.
Canyons and waterfalls
Laitlum canyons for the view over the valleys, then Krang Suri and Phe Phe waterfalls near Jowai. Continue to Mawlynnong for a quiet night in the village (about 100 km, 4 hours of driving).
Root bridge and the clear river
Walk Mawlynnong, the bamboo sky walk and the single-decker living root bridge. Drive to Dawki for boating on the Umngot river (paid on the spot) and the India–Bangladesh border, then on to Cherrapunji (about 100 km).
Caves and waterfalls of Sohra
Mawsmai cave, Mawdok valley, Arwah cave, Nohkalikai falls, the Seven Sisters falls, Eco Park and Elephant Falls. Back to Shillong (about 70 km, 2 hours).
Shillong town, down to the Brahmaputra
Ward's Lake, the Don Bosco museum of North East cultures, Lady Hydari Park and the Catholic cathedral. Drive down to Guwahati for the night.
Kamakhya darshan, fly home
Early-morning (6 am) darshan at Maa Kamakhya, back for breakfast, then Umananda, Basistha and Balaji temples as time allows before the airport drop.
